The woman is characterized by the other men as having the center for every man on the ranch. The woman is wed to Curley, the hot-headed son of the boss. Lennie is mentally challenged and does not realize his own strength. throughout the full book there is foreshadowing of Lennies accidental cleanup spot of Curleys married woman including the unfounded mouse incident and the tearing of the puppy. When everyone finds Curleys wifes body, Curley sends a root joint of men to blot out Lennie. George finds Lennie and understands that he has a very sullen determination to make. George is left with the last to either overcome Lennie or let Curley and his men kill Lennie. Georges friendship is so strong, he wants to be the one to kill Lennie to make it easier.

All Lennie asks of George at the end is if George will rank him about the rabbits on their farm. As George is telling Lennie about them,he shoots him. George make a very trying decision, but in my opinion, Georges decision was acceptable. Mercy killing in certain situations is excusable. George would rather kill Lennie himself instead of strangers killing him. I believe Lennie understands that George loves him and George has to choose to do this. Lennie does not ever say any signs of anger towards George and I believe that Lennies actions make the tasting much harder.
